  • Pray for Wes!

Hi everyone, I just wanted to update you on Wesley.  Most of you know that he has had alot of stomach problems since he was little and we never quite knew what it was.  Well, we have been to a few Dr.'s and had quite a few tests in the last 2 weeks and have found out that they are 95% sure that Wes has a disease by the name of Hirschsprung's---if you want to know all the details just google it---to make it short .. while he was developing in the womb some of his cells in his colon did not develop so he has not been able to go to the bathrooom correctly and he has stretched his colon out.  The only way to correct this is through surgery.  They will either have to remove the bad part of the colon and then reattach it all in one surgery or they will have to remove the bad part and give him a colostomy bag for a couple months to let the remaining colon heal.  Then they can reattach in another surgery.  He had a biopsy today---they put him to sleep and took some tissue and cells from the colon and they also cleaned him out. Because we live in Guam there are no specialists etc. to read this biopsy so it has to be sent to Hawaii ---we will have the results in a week.  The results will tell us how much of the colon is damaged etc. and if this definitely is the problem.   Please pray for Wesley and for us---we will have many decisions in the next few weeks.  There is only a general surgeon here and we are not sure if he should have the surgery here or not---we are getting as much info. as we can on what is best to do.  Obviously, we cannot just jump on a plane right now---it's quite expensive--so this just leaves us to trust the Lord and know that He will show us exactly what to do.  Well, that's what's been up with us---hope you all are doing well and I'll keep you posted.

  • CHRISTMAS AND A LITTLE VACATION

I hope you all had a very wonderful Christmas with your family and friends.  We had a great time this year--Christmas Eve the boys and I made a birthday cake for Jesus and then some Gingerbread cookies--they had so much fun and it was worth all the mess!!  On Christmas we opened presents and of course the kids played with all their new toys ( I immediately began to regret the tabletop pinball machine) and then later in the afternoon we went to our friend's house--they had an inflatable water slide for the kids--so the adults relaxed while the kids went crazy on the slide!!  It was a nice, warm and relaxing day!

Ken had this last week off so, thanks to our very kind family, we were able to go to an absolutely beautiful resort here in Guam.  It has a couple pools and waterslides and a kids water park---they also have mini-golf, kayaking,  sailing, windsurfing---all sorts of things to do--all free if you are a guest!  It was like a nice little vacation for all of us.  The boys had so much fun and are already begging to go back!  I've posted a ton of pictures of everything---Enjoy...

  • OUT OF THE MOUTH OF A 5 YEAR OLD

Ok, so we had our church Christmas concert last week and one of the songs was about the Virgin Mary having a baby Boy---my boys especially liked that song---so, we were in the car the other day and we hear Chase in the backseat singing  "The PIGEON Mary had a baby Boy"  I turned around and asked him what he was singing and he said "The Pigeon Mary had a baby...--- In between my laughter I told him it was the Virgin
Mary(hoping he wouldn't ask me what a virgin was) anyway, he wouldn't believe me and continued to sing about the pigeon Mary!!  Just thought you all might get a little laugh out of that!!

  • Potty Training, Snow and a Christmas Party!!!

Yes, Wesley has decided that he no longer wears diapers!!  HOORAY!!!  I never really tried to potty train him--for 2 reasons the first being that he is a boy and I'm a firm believer that boys are not ready until they are close to 3 and what's the use of trying and second some of you know that Wes has had stomach problems for the last year and a half and the Dr. said not to worry about the potty training until we can do something about his stomach---well, about a month ago (when he turned 3) we finally got a good Dr. and we actually started getting somewhere with his issues so, about a week and a half ago he just started going on his little chair all by himself then I informed him he was too big for his diapers and he decided that he would no longer wear them!!!  I am so thankful and the money saved is going to be so nice!
On to the next thing.... Snow!!!  Yes, we had snow in Guam---well, it was actually a machine in the mall that made snow for all the poor children of Guam who have never experienced it or who don't remember it--my kids--well, Chase does a little though I think his memory might be fading I had seen in the paper that one of our malls was having an interactive light show with music and that it would snow---so of course, we took the kids---I must say the show was great--it's the first time they've ever done anything like that on Guam and as of right not it's the only one on island--the kids loved it but good thing we went to the first show because in the second one the snow machine would not work  so I'm glad --they actually have it every night at 7 and 8 so I think that might be one of our Friday night outings until Christmas!!
Lastly, we had Ken's work Christmas Party on Sat. night.  Ken actually ran the whole show---he did a great job and had people laughing and falling out of their seats---he is such a crazy guy!!!  He's had people tell him that he reminds them of Will Smith---too funny!!  Anyway, it was at the Westin Resort and we had a great buffet dinner and a fun gift exchange.  Ken and I actually had a picture taken---so I'll post that for all of you who have been asking to see us ---believe me it's not that exciting---the kids are much cuter!!
Well, now that I've rambled I'll stop---Hope you all are having a  great Holiday Season so far!!!

  • LOTS OF FUN

Well, we had a great Thanksgiving--we went over to our friends Dave and Amy's house and ate a ton of food!!  They have 2 kids. Hayden is 3 and Nate is 1. They had fun playing on the slip-n-slide as you'll see from the pictures.  After dinner we went over to our Pastors house and had pie and just sat around and relaxed and talked while the kids went crazy from all the sugar!!  Luckily they have a nice backyard so it wasn't too bad for us adults!!

On Friday we went to the beach and then put up our Christmas tree.  The boys enjoyed that and Jack even joined in on the fun!!  Wesley came out on Saturday morning and thought there were going to be presents under the tree--it was really cute!  Poor guy--he's got a few weeks to go.

I hope all of you had a wonderful time with family and friends.

    Fun on the slip-n-slide

  • Happy Thanksgiving

We've been pretty busy lately--I'm glad it's Thanksgiving and we get a few days break!!

Jack is crawling now--so he's really starting to get into things--most of our place has tile floors and he does NOT like crawling on them---so if I need him in one place I put him on the tile and then he only moves a little bit before getting mad!!  He is such a funny baby!

It was Pilgrim and Indian day at school today so Chase dressed up as an Indian and we all went and ate a "Hawaiian Thanksgiving" lunch.  We are looking forward to spending Thanksgiving with some friends of ours--should be fun and relaxing ( as relaxed as you can get with kids(:).  Hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving.

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHASE AND WES!!

We had Chase and Wesley's beach birthday party this past Saturday.  They had alot of fun swimming, riding bikes and playing soccer.  I didn't get too many good shots of the kids etc.  They were not really interested in getting their pictures taken---too much fun stuff to do, I guess!!  All of you in the cold weather don't be too jealous now

This is Asan Beach---a very beautiful park/beach here in Guam.

A few shots of the party...

Birthday Cake!!!  After the party I caught the boys eating what was left of the cake---they are too funny!!

  • BUSY BUSY!!

Last week was so busy for us.  We had Chase's school carnival, his birthday the next day and a costume party on Saturday!  In between all of that Jack, Wes, and I were all sick.  We had upper respiratory infections and Jack's turned into a double ear-infection---oh yes, we had so much fun!!  Anyway, I have a bunch of pictures from everything. So here goes.....

  •        Well, it has finally stopped raining---for the most part---yes, it has been almost a month---we have been going crazy!!!  We finally got to go to the pool on Saturday.  I wanted to get some pictures but our batteries have died and the only re-chargeable ones we have are from our other camera which is not the same brand---of course!!  So, we will be getting some more---it's Chase's birthday on Thursday, so we'll definitely have them  by then!!
Anyway, I just sent my boys outside--they took out the spray bottle --which we use to wet their hair---they were using it to spray each other while playing hide and seek---whenever one would find the other they would spray them---I should say soak them---so I sent them outside!!!  Pretty clever and fun game, though!  Jack had his 6th month checkup today----22.5 lbs and 28 and 1/2 inches---the Dr. said he's just a big boy but very healthy.  He had his shots too so he's a little cranky and tired but will be good tomorrow!!  Hope you all are doing well with your fall and winter weather---I've really been wishing for some sweatshirt weather---not gonna happen though!!
I do miss all of you and hope that maybe we can see you soon!! Talk to ya later!!
