  • Pray for Wes!

Hi everyone, I just wanted to update you on Wesley.  Most of you know that he has had alot of stomach problems since he was little and we never quite knew what it was.  Well, we have been to a few Dr.'s and had quite a few tests in the last 2 weeks and have found out that they are 95% sure that Wes has a disease by the name of Hirschsprung's---if you want to know all the details just google it---to make it short .. while he was developing in the womb some of his cells in his colon did not develop so he has not been able to go to the bathrooom correctly and he has stretched his colon out.  The only way to correct this is through surgery.  They will either have to remove the bad part of the colon and then reattach it all in one surgery or they will have to remove the bad part and give him a colostomy bag for a couple months to let the remaining colon heal.  Then they can reattach in another surgery.  He had a biopsy today---they put him to sleep and took some tissue and cells from the colon and they also cleaned him out. Because we live in Guam there are no specialists etc. to read this biopsy so it has to be sent to Hawaii ---we will have the results in a week.  The results will tell us how much of the colon is damaged etc. and if this definitely is the problem.   Please pray for Wesley and for us---we will have many decisions in the next few weeks.  There is only a general surgeon here and we are not sure if he should have the surgery here or not---we are getting as much info. as we can on what is best to do.  Obviously, we cannot just jump on a plane right now---it's quite expensive--so this just leaves us to trust the Lord and know that He will show us exactly what to do.  Well, that's what's been up with us---hope you all are doing well and I'll keep you posted.

Just a few pictures of my sweet little boy #2

  • Oh Sam, I'm sorry you guys are having to deal with this.  We will keep Wesley and all of you in our thoughts and prayers.  Take care and give Wesley a big hug from Colorado!!  (I guess you can give the other two hugs from us also! )

  • We will be praying for Wesley as well!  It's is hard to see them going through something like that when they are so young.

I think Ken gets to talk to Rob more than I get to talk to you....that needs to change.

Hey, check out our blog for our big announcement.

  • Sending love & prayers. We know all too much about genetic defects of the colon. My sympathies.

  • Sam, I got a hold of your blog from the SCS92 blog!  Any way, I'm so sorry to hear about your little Wesley!  I know what it's like to have a sick little one - mommy is usually just as miserable as baby!  Hang in there girl!  I will be praying God will give the strength you will need to take care of everyone!  Including yourself!  Maybe we can catch up another time!  Take care!
